Why more and more people consider about “Plastic surgery”?
Is it just for beauty? Or something else? Then what??

I asked these to myself but no exact answers.

Ashlee Simpson said it’s a very personal choice which I believe so and pretty young enough celebrity Hilary Duff also considers having it when she gets older and says it’s not a problem at all but I may say it can be a problem later on and can influence to change a lot of people’s mind for having a job especially for similar age group with her. And even supermodels who we believe having perfect body also get some massage therapy because of their cellulite in thigh or buttock areas.

I’m sure there is no limit for wanna be look pretty, beautiful, young, gorgeous etc. I think I can put hundreds and thousands adjectives to describe the women’s mind for being beauty!

As we see above, the views for having done has changed a lot and very common.

Until a few years ago people who had done some jobs usually didn’t tell people – maybe except very close friends?! (It’s impossible to hide from them actually).

However it’s not a secret anymore nowadays and some people even think very proudly for their changes and some of them act more confidently than before. One of the 22-year-old receptionists from New York, she says in the article that she will spend whatever it takes for plastic surgery and lots of people recommend that now it is much more delicate and sophisticated. I understand her completely but what if something goes wrong? Who you gonna blame? I know I can’t be pessimistic for this as I said before it's a very personal choice but people who considering for some works done they have to remind themselves first that there are lots of different unlike side effects.

Because of these changes and popularities the modernized technologies have brought better, quicker and painless way – No knives. Do it with laser. It’s especially for the skin treatments. This title really tempts and make excited for lots of women and even for girls. But how can we say the laser will be definitely better? Or less painful?? What about side effects? They use the fact’s that all the women just wanna look younger even their 70’s. No matter who you are and where you from.(Being honest I’m also gonna be temped a lot for some works done when I get older ^^ ;;)

Lots of people say that the plastic surgery is an addiction.I’m sure it is. It can give more self- satisfaction about your appearance and make getting more attentions from others because you’re pretty and attractive.

But as you know the word “addiction” has more negative meanings than positive.

I have few friends who are really addicted about plastic surgery and they really having it quite regularly. Of course their parents don’t agree with them so they save money by themselves and do it or go to China to do it because of its much cheaper price.

However there is no guarantee for success or look more beautiful than before!

Another big issue is the teenage girls’ plastic surgery.

I found that around 40% of teenagers are not satisfied with their looks and body and United Kingdom hits the highest rank in Euro which I thought the plastic surgery is not that big issue in Europe.

I really understand them because I used to make a role model when I was teenager with one of my favourite actress in Korea and imitated her a lot with looks, clothes and so on.

I think those kids are affected a lot from medias and they generally make their wanna be looks with celebrities and wanna have their gorgeous looking and it’s very natural when girls’ are young but if it goes too much they can be very depressed and it can bring extreme results for them – like suicide?!

I found a news article that says “Beautiful people earn more money than Ugly Bettys”.It was very appealing and understandable but sad as well. I think it contains some kinds of discrimination for ugly or even average looking women and it can encourage people to change their looks in some ways which is not that good idea. Even though it’s pretty sad reality……

If this article has published in Korea it would bring a huge disaster for women and plastic surgeons definitely getting busier and earn more money than they expected where already fully booked during every summer and winter break.

Hi Hanna,

This is a great filter weblog, and you have made some great points in regards to teenagers wanting to look like celebrities. My daughter LOVES Hillary Duff and tries to be like her, dress like her etc. And we have to keep telling her to cover herself up. When we started this weblog i was going to do media and its affect on image and tagged two articles, if you are interested in them let me know.
Anyways goodwork.

I do think its a lot to do with self-satisfaction, Hanna. If a girl doesn't like her body or face, she probably hates her no matter how many sergeries she has. If I had a daughter, I don't want her to change how she looks because I think it is really important to love yourself. And its espensive too. Im not a beautiful girl but Im comfortable. Wouldn't all girls think that but celebrities feel the pressure and think surgeries are necessary to keep their cariers going?

I agree very much with what Yoshie is saying, you don't even have to be confident to love yourself.
I am far from that most of the time, but i personally could never go through a plastic surgery operation.
And like yoshie and you say with celebrities being in the media so often they are forced to see themselves blown up and get comments on every single flaud, which might not even be there.
I don't think it is so much the decisions of celebs really that reflects to young people who look up to them, it is what the media has to say about them.
I was flicking through the gossip magazine now or something like that the other day, and it was talking about celebrites like hilary duff, and a few other very beautifully looking celebs, asking are they fat?
if you're above a size 8? does that make you fat? it's crazy really.

I like your choice of topic and it is good to see your research and read your feeling around it, especially as you are focusing it towards asian girls as well, i would say you are an insider to the pressure that probably lie on young asian girls and plastic surgery, not saying that i think you would do it yourself, but you know the culture from a very different side than me as a european.

Basically, I think this depends on personal choice as Ashlee Simpson said. Even though the person decides to take plastic surgery from some bad experience because of the looking (you said it’s not good and sad, don’t you?), if it is his/her decision no one denies it. However, it is the way as long as they are in strong position about plastic surgery and think about it carefully.
But I understand what you said as well. It would help for some people but the reason to take the surgery often is that they don’t like themselves. My opinion is inconsistent (-_-;)

wow~ lots of comments ^^*
so excited to hear all of u guys~!

yes! i agree with you guys!
The plastic surgery is mostly for the self-satisfaction.

but i just wonder how much can you say that for self-saticfacion?

I think when people usually have good things then they look for another good things or better things.

It can also apply to this plastic surgery and that's why the "addiction" has come out.

I'm sure different cultures have different aspects for this
and I think there is no right or wrong answer for plastic surgery.

But getting worrier a lot whenever i see the person who always think about changing their looks, esepcially asian girls!!

and sometimes it can affect to the other's point of view.

You know, nowadays in Korea some people say that it would be really hard to find "natural beauty girls" in later days!@.@

Pretty funny~ huh?~!!

i agree with what Ashlee Simpson said as well. But i think not everyone who had a surgery is prettier than before, it might be because of side effects or their face can be changed by anything even surgery.. haha...!
I would have a surgery as long as there is 100% of sure that i can be much prettier than before haha.

As other people said, the important think is to have self-satisfaction and esteem.

I think that it is also important to note that the celebs girls are modeling their own self-worth from have a whole team to get them ready, and lets not forget "air brushing". So in many cases girls are modeling themselves on something that is not even real.

Hi there Hanna,
Just read something in a glossy magazine re African models on the Parisian catwalk. Did u know that many African girls hate their bums and would love to have plastic surgery done to make that a few sizes smaller? However, although their noses are also different from those of Europeans, they have no problem with that.

Have been checking the price lists out - just for fun!!! Hanna, u mentioned that ps is cheaper in China - do u know how much cheaper and if the standard is the same as elsewhere.

I think it's gr8 if any person wants to do something re his/her looks and that it takes some courage to accept that. Somewhere, somebody got this idea that it is morally bad to have ps done. Compare that to going to gym, taking vitamins etc. - not to be healthy but to look better. I think "ordinary" people are moving away from that CONSERVATIVE idea that a person is bad/vain/or whatever if they r having ps. The only valid reason, I would say, for refusing ps could perhaps be on religious grounds - but then one should start questioning if those same people should be reading "Harry Potter".

So dolls, go for it - as long as u get a good surgeon and don't go overboard.
